4 out of 5 stars Great game, but coaches stink   October 27, 2008
4 out of 4 found this review helpful

I, like many who have purchased this game, also have played the Brain Age 1 2, Flash Focus, and other similar games. I will agree with the others and say that it does have the best variety, and best graphics. br /br /The only thing that I really don't care for is the attitude of the coaches. In the Brain Age games, if you have an off day, your coach has an "It's okay, you're just having an off day, you'll do better tomorrow" kind of attitude. This game, the coaches have a "What's wrong with you?!" response to an off day. All I can think is how much that would suck if the person playing is sensitive to criticism. I'm against putting people down to help them improve. So a word to the sensitive people, if you are going to buy this game, skip past coach comments.

5 out of 5 stars I have a LONG way to go on this game. Yikes :(   October 9, 2008
I just got my first hand held video game unit the Nintendo DS lite. I got this as my first of two games. I took the brain test and was very shocked at my brain age. I have work to do.br /br /The game is fun and challenging for me. Some exercises are very difficult to do. I have read so much on how important it is to exercise your brain and work with eye hand coordination as we age. I thought this was a luxury item that on a fixed income I should not get. WRONG.br /Now I condiser it physical therapy and a medical need.br /br /They test you then give you a work out. You see your scores and are praised or told you need to work harder.br /br /I highly recommend the game for the medical value and it is just plain FUN.

3 out of 5 stars What happens after "100 %" Brain Usage"?   October 1, 2008
I downloaded this for my ipod. I like it, I play it right before bed. I felt that it was a bit too easy to reach 100% and when I did, nothing happened. I continue to do the tests just for fun and my score is always 100% now. It is weird because I feel I don't know if the game is "over". I figured that once one made it to that mark, a "new rank" would be achieved. I don't know. I would like it if the company and/ or game itself said "great job, smartie, go play something else now"... or "hey dummy, we tricked you. this goes up to 1000%". Maybe one is supposed to score all "A plusses" in all the training games/ levels to beat the game...? Aside from that, I like the game. It is even more fun to play not half asleep with one eye closed! I like it just as much as 'Big Brain Academy' on the Wii. I have never played 'Brain Age'.

3 out of 5 stars Good game with annoying traits   September 23, 2008

The game is better than Brain Age (IMO) due to the large variety of challenges that it presents. However, it has the following highly annoying traits:br /br /- The alarms when the time is about to end: all this does for me is stress me out and makes me miss the last few questions. Running the DS on mute helps for sure.br /br /- The theme music: I haven't found a way to turn this off. It keeps going on and on while one is browsing the menus. Running on mute helps here too.br /br /- The sanctimonious advice: I don't need some animated dumb bell to tell me how to live my life. I (by necessity) practice late at night and the tiresome repetitive advice about my late bedtime really sucks.br /br /- The animation at the start of the game: There seems to be no way to skip the game maker's stupid logo animation every frikking time one starts playing. This wastes about a minute *every* time - highly annoying. I fear that one day I might stab my stylus all the way through my DS due to this stupid trait.br /br /You can see that the above annoyances are really ruining my enjoyment of this otherwise excellent game. I really enjoy the tests and the practice but the annoyances above are just infuriating.

5 out of 5 stars Fun and Very Challenging   September 17, 2008
This game has different areas in which you can exercise you brain and measure your levels in areas such as logic, focus, memory, math. It's so much fun and some parts are downright tough. Of course, you get better as you go. I love Brain Age 1 and 2 and this as well. So I think if you're a Brain Age fan, you'll have fun with this. Also, I think this was way better than Big Brain Academy. However, my niece and nephew can play that one but not this one. Small children won't be able to do this.
