keeps me coming back May 30, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Somehow this game does not get me nostalgic for old Mario games at all. I don't know why, it just doesn't.br /br /That said, I really enjoy this game, and it's got me coming back.br /br /I can see how some people would complain that this game is too hard, and others that it is too easy, but to me they got the difficulty just right. At first, certain parts of World 1 were kicking my butt. But before too long I got the hang of it, and I have had a whole lot of fun with it. Some stages can still seem difficult, but not too difficult. And at first, it seemed impossible to find secret exits. That's a good thing. I do wish that finding all the star coins was a bit more challenging though, it may only take you one heavy day of playing.br /br /I think this actually has less classic mario enemies than Super Princess Peach has. Guess that was because they were trying to keep this game fairly simple.br /br /The one part of this game that I think they could have done better is the music - none of the tunes really seem catchy to me. But the enemies and Fire Flowers sure seem to think the tunes are catchy - sometimes I let enemies live just so I can watch them dance to the music.br /br /If you find that you don't like the koopa shell that Mario can wear, then this game is a little low on power-ups. But that's a minor gripe.br /br /I think this game will keep me coming back for quite a while.
A Portable Old School Mario with excellent Graphics May 29, 2006 9 out of 35 found this review helpful
Those are the only two pros of this game. If you want to play the classic NES Mario games on your DS, then buy this. If you want a challenge or something new and different, then do not buy this. You will be sorely disappointed.br /br /This is the same stale gameplay that plagues many generic platformers today, no matter what console. Just because it is Mario does not make it any better. The worlds themselves are mostly recycled, with some variances, from Super Mario 3. The boss battles are exactly the same. The only time the touch screen is even used for the gameplay is if you want to use the power up you have saved.br /br /With the incredible potential this game had, it is wasted on rehashing the old NES games with better graphics. Once again, buy this only if you want a portable NES Mario game. Everyone else, stay away.

Mario has not and will not be defeated May 25, 2006 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
This one is a worthy Nintendo title for the DS Library, I was getting kinda nervous with past availble titles however it nice to see the DS system getting some overdue attention with some decent titles like Metriode prime Hunters, Super Mario Kart.br /br /I won't go into great detail since some of the other reviews cover that ground pretty well, I however as a Mario fan endorse this productbr /br /The graphics mainly borrow from Super Mario 3, but I do see some elements from other titles such as Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars Version of Super Mario Bros. as well as some new features and characters, if your a fan of the orginal Super Mario and Super Mario 3 you'll love this one.
Fun for kids and adults alike! May 25, 2006 141 out of 164 found this review helpful
I need to warn everyone that my wife and I are both old enough to have been fans of the orginal Mario... but we are still young to love the newest version in the series.br /br / br /Sometimes you just have to get back to the basics - and that is exactly what happens with this newest Mario installment. Nintendo has taken the best features of the first three Super Marios (with some new features too!) and blended them into one great game.br /br /Pros-br /br /- All new version of an great favoritebr /- Interesting twistsbr /- nice graphics for a hand held gamebr /- Decent game lengthbr /- very fun mini gamesbr /br /Cons-br /br / - Game isn't too challenging for your average gamerbr /- Most of the mini games are repeatsbr /br / As a whole - the game is well worth the $35 and will supply many hours of great game play.
