5 out of 5 stars Best Nintendo DS Game Ever!!   October 28, 2007

This game is even better than the original. The graphics are great for a Nintendo DS game. I've had this game for about a year and a half now, and I'm still not tired of it. I've already finished it, but it's fun to play over and over again. I love how you can play as Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi. Instead of having 120 stars to collect, you now have 150 to collect. Mario 64 DS also has minigames!! Running through the painting worlds is so much fun!!! Nintendo really went the extra mile to make this game better than the original. This game is not too easy and not too hard. Every gamer out there will find a way to enjoy this incredible game. A NINTENDO DS MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm new to the whole Nintendo DS and Mario game scene. I have a GBA but was never really good at most of the games.br /br /The one problem I've been having and the reason I entered 4 stars for how much fun it is....was because of trying to use the stylus for moving the characters around. I know you don't "have" to use it but I did try and it just didn't work so well for me, granted in some of the sections I had a hard time figuring out how to move them at ALL but I'm sure it's just me and I'm not coordinated enough. I've also gotten stuck on a couple areas where I can't figure out how to make it do what I want it to do. I know it says you can 'play as' all of the characters....but I'm still working on that part. I know what I need to do but not how to do it. :)br /br /Otherwise - it's going to keep me occupied for a while.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I expected   August 27, 2007

I had waiting to buy this game for a long time, thinking that it was going to be so great. Well I received it for my birthday and was very disappointed. This is not fun, gets boring very quickly, and is SO hard to control. I don't know what Nintendo was thinking bringing this to the DS because it is almost impossible to control your character's movements. The touch screen is very hard to use for this and the control pad is almost just as bad. I got the 3rd area and was already both bored and frustrated with the game. Because of the horrible controls, you will fall off cliffs and ledges many, many times. Plus all you do in the game is go through ridiculous battles with enemies just to collect stars. The only things I even like about this game are the mini games. The mini games are actually pretty good but they're not worth buying the game for. And the graphics are pretty good as well. But honestly unless you're willing to deal with the difficult controls and want to see what the mini games are, then I would not recommend buying this game.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best!   August 5, 2007

I have never played the original Super Mario 64. But I can already tell that the DS version beats it down. SM64 DS starts out with Mario, Luigi, and Wario dashing to Peach's castle for cake. Once they are gone for several hours, Yoshi ventures out to find Mario and Company [I won't spoil the entire story]. The Visuals are are very clear and detailed. You'll be able to see the rocky brick walls of the castle or smooth surface of a bomb-omb. As for the sound, it's just perfect-all said. During The game you'll soon be able to use Mario, Luigi, and Wario along with Yoshi! They all get cool, unique powerups. Mario inflates like a balloon and floats around with his' [It's my favorite one]. The worlds you enter seem a tad boring at first. But it's get more exciting the more you progress. SM64 DS is pretty long, about two months worth of gameplay. My advice, buy it! It 's one of the best games on the DS!
