Not that i'm real into Pokemon or anything. But I bought this game along time a go when it first came out. And i just recently played it and it is pretty cool.

Believe it or not. It's incredibly fun. Yes, it may be pokemon, but even people who don't like pokemon should play through this once. The only reason I'm selling mine is because I've played it over and over and over. There's enough to keep you entertained for days and some problem solving is involved as well. The only draw back is that sometimes I had to look up how to make certain creatures evolve and that you have to play the same levels over a few times. Really though, this game is pretty fun and is worth it for a few bucks for a christmas present for someone! Especially pokemon enthusiasts!

Considering this game is used and cheap now for a retired system, I'd recommend a purchase just to see a type of gameplay that Nintendo never tried again. You are a photographer, and have been hired by Professor Oak to document Pokemon living in the wild. You ride through levels on a fixed track, snapping photos. You have a few items at your disposal to help spur the Pokemon into different actions, which racks up better photos and more points. The graphics are somewhat average, but the Pokemon animate well. Controls are easy to master.br /br /So yeah it's very different and very fun, but in the end much too short. You have six levels and a bonus seventh level (that really isn't much of a level), but you see less than half of the original 151 Pokemon. Getting better photos gives the game some replay value, but you can basically see everything in a weekend. But like I mentioned above, it's cheap now, and the novelty makes it worth a buy for fans and non-fans alike.

I came to this page hoping to find a list of games as creative, playful, and original as Pokemon Snap, but alas: do they exist? I do think of Animal Crossing, though that game dwarfs this one completely.br /br /First: I've played all kinds of games; I first encountered this one two years ago, and just dug it out again, and so I'm here wishing there was another game like it. This game is absolutely for all ages (I'm 36); I don't believe that this game's enjoyment depends on age, but whether you're happy to play something that doesn't involve combat (don't get me wrong: I love all types of games), and is even creative. I've absolutely no interest in Pokemon, but it doesn't matter what these characters are: they're just animals to me.br /br /Gameplay itself: you're assisting a professor that's studying the Pokemon species. You travel through different settings at a constant speed on a fixed path, and must swivel about snapping photos of these critters, who move and do amusing things; you'll have to make repeated visits to get the best snaps possible, from various angles, with different poses. You can go back as often as you like (which is all part of the fun), hoping to get better pictures and/or of Pokemon you've missed. br /br /Then (this is brilliantly done), the professor rates your photos by how well the shot has captured the animal, like centering it in your picture; getting the most definitive shot, capturing its features, profile, and proximity); and even points for creativity. You can store your shots in a scrapbook, keeping the best (in terms of points scored, and just keeping your own favorites).br /br /I wish that there were more games like Pokemon Snap; if anyone knows of a similar game, I'd love to hear about it.
Fun and unique but over way too quickly September 18, 2005
When a phenomenon as big as Pokemon was, you'll always find the companies trying to cash in as quick as they can and get the most money. So many Pokemon-related stuff coming out: cereal, plush toys, band-aids, and games of course. Here we have a different approach to the Catch-em-All tagline: you take their picture. It's fun, neat and short.br /br /Story: You don't play Pokemon games for their story but essentially Pokemon professor and researcher Oak wants pictures taken of the Pokemon so you hop in his vehicle and travel different areas to do it. Pretty simple, no?br /br /Graphics: This is in the N64 days so it's not incredibly detailed but it does its job well although you might find like the Simpsons, Pokemon look odd in 3D.br /br /Sound/Music: Unlike the Gameboy games, the characters actually say their name for once which is a good plus. Music was ok but nothing hummable, like most Pokemon music.br /br /Gameplay: The pictures you take are ranked in basic areas: how close they are to camera and not extreme close-up or faraway either; whether they're in the middle of the frame, if they're doing a special pose and if there's more of them in frame. To get the poses you have 3 basic moves: using your Poke-flute which could make them dance or maybe fall asleep, bait to get them closer to camera or a ball which basically gets them mad. Some also can net you a great photo such as one level, if you knock Pikachu off a balloon and you do something else you can get Pikachu to ride Articuno for extra bonus.br /br /One complaint is the fact that you'll often re-try levels cause your machine is just too damn fast. Trying to take a picture of a creature when you need so much prep time isn't the best thing. You'd have to have incredibly good aim for many things too. Another complaint is that there's only around 60-65 Pokemon....out of 151?(This is pre Gold-Silver games). Some of my favorites from the games are not even in here like I don't think I saw one Eevee or its evolutions in the game.br /br /Having an interest in photography I can appreciate a game like this but photography in a lot of cases is about patience. Waiting for that perfect moment before you click and riding that machine just quite frankly sucks but if you're into Pokemon, try it out(if you can find it still).
