AMAZING WITH FEW ERRORS April 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
KH:CoM is a game that is very complex with an incredibly moving storyline, which makes it all the more enjoyable. There are only a few problems with the game, however.br /br /1. The graphics, while still very good, are not what I would prefer. The PS2's 3D polygons are much more preferable to the GBA's 2D sprites and pixels. br /2. The room synthesis mode is quite frustrating and repetitive, I often burn through cards required for a door at an earlier door, with the enemy fights very frustrating due to the reduction to the 2D plane.br /3. The game lacks true voiceovers, and I would rather hear dialogue rather than read it.br /br /Still, with these errors, CoM is a very enjoyable game with lots of replay value. I personally can't wait for the PS2 remake to come out in September!br /
Consider it KH 1.5 April 12, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While it does get somewhat repetitive, for a Kingdom Hearts fan, this game has need to know info and expands the gap between the ending of KH1 and the beginning of KH2. The fighting style in this game is not the traditional of either PS intallment though. Sora is given points and cards. Depending on the amount of points Sora has, he can hold different cards, each doing different levels of damage and capable of combining into one big or several small attacks. It does take some getting used to.
It's OK, but... February 25, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Well, It's OK. I think that the best part is the card battling system. you have a deck of cards. Each card has a value from 0-9. Enemies also have and use cards for attacks, the same way you do. When you use a card while someone else is, the card with the higher value succeeds and the lower valued card is "broken" and the user is stunned. that's probably the most interesting part of the game. The rest is kind of boring. The awesome graphics that have been advertised on the site only occur a few select times and look pixelated. Another down in this game is that all the rooms in the game follow a random predefined structure, but still have different colors. (in English: all the rooms have the same structure but different color schemes. Don't imagine this game to be anything like KH1, there are no trinity spots, space flights, or items. Even in Atlantica, there is no difference in game play. But I do have to admit, the companies idea was great. Make Sora loose his memories for an excuse to have to do the story over. This was a way to let people with only a GBA play, what they think, is a GBA version of KH. They also made it a continuation of the old game to force veteran players into getting it to complete the story. And to top it off, the ending ids a cliffhanger, forcing you to buy KH3. Even though the scheme was perfect, I wish that Square Enix could have put more work into game play. The bosses are extremely easy and take a long time to complete, thanks to the enormous amount of health that was given to them. The conversations take a long time to complete, and it gets annoying when an enemy constantly breaks your cards. I don't advise buying this game as it is a waste of money. My friends tell me that you can easily get KH2 and pick up on the story line without even getting KH1. I hope that you don't make the same mistake i did and get lured into Square Enix's trap.
Not great...... February 15, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Alright, maybe this game isn't the best in the series, and the card system is pretty irritating, but it is quite important to the plot. And the fact that it's on a gameboy is annoying, because you aren't getting the best game quality. I'm fairly confident that the Playstation version will be better, and am looking forward to it's release.br /Though Sora's side of the story is rather boring, the game gets quite fun when you play as Riku. For instance, you don't have to wait forever to reload your cards. You press the 'A' button and they reload. Once. Every time. The one downside is that since you don't have magic cards, it's harder to heal. But you can do that with mickey cards.br /Plus, in Sora and Riku's story, you learn about 5 other Organization members and they introduce Axel, who's personality seems rather different than it is in KH2. 2 of the 5 are exclusive to Riku's game.br /br /Yes, Namine is in KH2, and she is VERY VERY VERY important to the plot. [...]br / br /Overall, if I had known that a playstation version would be coming out in fall, I would have waited. If you're considering getting the game, I'd definetly get it, but wait intil fall, when the PS game comes out. I know I'M going to get it.

Abandon that glimmer of hope now. I didn't, and I tarnished my view of both the GBA and the Kingdom Hearts franchise. I love Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. They're two of my favorite games of all time, but this GBA turd isn't worthy of anyone's time. Yeah, theres a couple storyline gaps filled in, but a real fan can read a story description online. The card based system DOES ruin the game. The rest of it would be alright, but they attempted to add a new dimension on the KH fighting system and it just turns out annoying. Avoid this game.
