saphire fever August 10, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
the moment i got my mudkip i instatly cought saphire fever. saphire unfortunantly cant be played on gameboy color. there are two new "evil teams" are team aqua and team magma(sadly there is no team rocket. in saphire the team you are fighting is team aqua(who wants the trouble of fighting two teams). the three legendarias are groudon, kyogre and rayqaza but you dont need to worry about groudon because you dont catch him. kyogre is in the cave of origin and you can either beat him or catch him(i would catch him he is super strong)you can use your master ball if you like but i would save it for latias(make sure you save before you battle him if you are trying to catch him if he beats you or you beat him you can turn of and try again). rayquaza is at the top of the sky pillar and if you dont want to catch him ignore the sky pillar onless you want a good ghost type. if you want to catch him make sure you save and its ok to use your master ball but i would use in on latias. keep in mind you can only catch him after you beat the elite four. there are also three miner legenarias regirock, regice and registeel. to get these three i would recomend either a guide of somesort or a good brail guid. i would only catch one if i were you because the moves they learn are pretty much the same. there wareabouts are regice is an island between dewford and slaport, regirock is at the botom of the desert and registeel is right outside lilycove(where the girl who gives you the berry is. for finding them i would also recomend a guid because i cannot explain there locations are very well. when you get to there locations you will notice that there is no way in. that is because you have not gone to the sealed chamber. i would use a guide to get there because its very hard to get there without instuctions. im going to save you alot of trouble by telling you this when you enter the sealed chamber go right to the front and use dig( wich you get from fossil maniacs younger brother). a door will open and proseed into the next chamber walk to the front put ralicanth at the front of your party and wailord at the back and hit the A bottun(if you want to get emereld read the emerld reveiws in emreld things are differt and alot harder). once your in the tomb of the regis read the brail at the front and it will tell you to use a certain move in a certain place then you can catch the regis(do not use your master ball there are bigger and better things to use it on). i know i mentioned the elite four earlyer so here it is. the elite four(also known as the pokem leage)are a group of four members and the champion. there pokemon typs go dark, ghost, ice, dragon and finally steel(get a good water type and you'll crush the champion). once you beat the elite four the ferry starts working so you can go to battle tower. there are two rooms in the battle tower the level 50 room and the level 100 room. in the level fifty room you fight seven trainers(all there pokemon are level fifty)you can use only three pokemon and you cant use rayquaza kyogre or groudon. same rules for the level 100 room only every trainers pokemon is level 100. you cant hook up with c/s/g/r/b/y but you can hook up with firered and leafgreen. your probobly going to catch saphire fever too.
I thought having new pokemon would be fun... July 22, 2006 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
Here are the pros:br /br /-2-on-2 battlingbr /br /-new pokemon(if you consider this a good thing, i actually kinda dont)br /br /-2 pokemon can be put in the breeding centerbr /br /That's it. those are the only 3 pros.br /br /Now, for the cons.br /br /-cant trade with g/s/c. that's right, people! you cant trade that shiny gyrados or shiny(if it was, there was a 50% of it being shiny)pokemon you got from that mystery egg! well, even if you did trade it, it would have that horrible thing called a "nature" which may give it crappy stats. plus, R/S/S/FR/LG versions don't give shinies better stats than normal pokemon.br /br /-natures, evs, ivs, and all that other crap we dont care about, was unfortunately put in the game...and it takes even longer to get a better pokemonbr /br /-shinies are rarer. nope, you cant get 1 shiny without it coming out of the wild. oh well! there's only a 1/8000 chance of that happening! geez. in g/s/c, i KNOW you have a higher chance of getting one. and if you did, it had higher stats than normal.br /br /They also purposely made the starters better than one another. back in the old days, charizard, venusaur, and blastoise were equal. same with the 2nd generation. sceptile is the only 3rd generation starter without a 2nd type. yes, blastoise didnt have one either, but blastoise could counter his 2 weaknesses. sceptile can only counter 3 weaknesses out of 7 max.! What else don't I get? That swampert is only bad against 1! Not to mention blaziken is the most overrated starter ever. br /br /They have based the card game and dungeon red/blue entirely off the 3rd generation fire/water starters, and im getting so sick of seeing them! At least if you're going to make starters, make them DECENT and CUTE so we dont get tired of seeing them so much when you make spin-offs!br /br /...I wish the old days were back:( They were more fun, and less of a hastle to raise pokemon.
Pokemon: Ruby and Sapphire July 19, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
A note: This review does NOT apply to Pokemon Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire's counterpart, since I have not played Pokemon Emerald.br /br /Ahh, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. By far some of the best games in Pokemon history so far. (Pokemon Firered in close second.)br /br /Longtime Pokemon fans with obviously enjoy this great game,(Like myself) and it will surely introduce many new fans to the series. br /br /You start out as either a male or female trainer. After a bit of talking, you discover that the town's local professor, Professor Birch, (Yes, as in a Birch tree) being cornered by a grumpy Poochyena. You grab one of the Pokemon from his bag, (A Treeko, grass type, Torchic, Fire type, or Mudkip, water type) And use it to defend the professor. That Pokemon will become your first ever Pokemon. And so, the adventure begins! (Geez, what a cliche'd line, lol.) br /br /Anyway, this game has many, many, (Insert the word 'many' a whole bunch of times ^-^) new features. br /br /First of all, a huge bundle of brand new Pokemon! And now, thanks to Pokemon Firered and leafgreen, you can get the 151 of the Kanto region in here too! Sadly, there are no new Pokemon Gold/Silver remakes...yet.br /br /Plus, there are Contests! Contests are special...well...contests, based on several categories, like Beauty, Tough, and Cute. Raise your pokemon to fit Contest form with Pokeblocks, a special candy that increases it's Coolness, Cuteness, Toughness, etc. Pokemon moves are also categorized. Such as, Bubble is a Cute move, and Brick Break is a Tough move, therefore, they can be used in their respective contests. br /br /There are also Natures, which can affect the way a Pokemon grows. Examples of Natures are: Relaxed, or Brave. Also, they affect the types of Pokeblocks a Pokemon likes.br /br /Abilities are another new feature. They are basically, special Pokemon abilities. Such as, the ability, Keen Eye. A Pokemon with the Keen Eye ability stops accuracy reduction in battle. Very, very useful!! br /br /Plus, a herd of new Pokemon moves! And, a bundle of new Pokeballs! br /br /The main Legendary Pokemon are Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. You can get Rayquaza in both games, but Groudon is only in Ruby, and Kyogre is only in Sapphire. But, if you own Pokemon Emerald, you can get all three! br /br /There are also even more Legendaries! Latios, Latias, Regirock, Registeel, Regice, Jirachi, and Deoxys. br /br /Well, that's pretty muhc all I'll tell you. I don't want to ruin any surprises. But, here are a few helpful tricks and tips:br /br /* As I have said in a Pokemon Firered reviews, DON'T Use all uber Legendaries. For one, no one will battle you, in fear of getting creamed, and second, it's not original. Nowadays, EVERYONE uses all Legendary teams in Official Competitons, and there's no variety, and no challenge to win. -_-; Not so 'Legendary' any more, huh?br /br /*CATCH SHINY POKEMON. Do I need to underline it? They are Pokemon colored differently than usual, and SUPER rare. I have not encountered one yet on my Ruby and Sapphire versions, but I have a Shiny Graveler on Firered. They are recognizable by a shimmery glow of stars around them, and their different colors. If you see one, CATCH IT!br /br /*Plant Berries! Currently, on Sapphire, I used up all the game's berries, and I can't plant many more. (I think I have the dreaded Berry Glitch) Berries are useful in battle, and are used to make Pokeblocks for Pokemon Contests.br /br /*This isn't really a tip...more of an evaluation. If you are a Newbie to Pokemon games, don't choose Torchic. It is weak to many Gym leaders, but is great for expierienced trainers. (I have a Blaziken, evolves form of Torchic, and let me tell you, it was touhg deafeatinbg Roxanne, a Rock type gym leader.) Treecko would be a better chocie, since it is strong against more Gym Leaders than the other two. Mudkip will be good for intermediate players.br /br /Well, that's all!
POKEMON SAPPHIRE ROX! FROM THIS WORLD TO THE NEXT! July 18, 2006 this game is the best. It's almost impossible to put down. I've beaten it two times and am about to take a go at my third win. In my opinion, the mudkip is the best choice. If not, the torchic. The treecko... well definetly a BAD choice. Especialy for beginers. I hope you love it as much as me. (Which is ALOT by the way) Good Luck!
If you are going to get a pokemon game get this one!!!! July 14, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is one of the best gameboy games I have ever played. I could not stop playing it after my friend gave it to me. In little root (where you start) is the best because your next-door neighbor (in the game) gives you a free pokemon. When you get to the last gym leaders go online to get helpful hints for victory road (the road to the last gym leaders)because you can get stuck very easily. You can choose to be a boy or a girl and your name. After you are done getting the things out of the moving truck you are ready to play! Don't think twice buy this game!!!!!!!!!!!
