Dum-da-da-dum-da-da-dum! Nintendo's greatest system yet October 26, 2002 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nintendo's Gamecube is approaching its first anniversary this November and here's my review for it. You may already know that Nintendo has [finally] switched from cartridge (a.k.a. "Pak") format and made the leap to CD games. This allows the Gamecube to make more cutscenes than possible on the N64, making noticable graphics differences, in games such as Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and James Bond 007 in Agent Under Fire. Also, Nintendo has completely revamped the controller to feel fantastic in your hands. Although some people dislike the unorthadox button pattern (I, for one, love it =)), the L R buttons will slip easily in their hands. All the buttons on the N64 controller are on there, along with the return of the X and Y buttons (not seen since the Super NES). Overall the greatest system yet.p...
Great System From A Great Company October 25, 2002 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
First off from the early days of NES to the current days of the Cube,Nintendo has always been a great company and will remain so for years to come.Like N64 before it Game Cube has great 3 dimensional games.br I dont like portable video game systems because in my mind its not really a system if it needs batteries and you cant plug it in to a tv.NES and SNES were both great systems.Younger people bash them because they dont like the graphics but us intellectual people know better. Its not the graphics its the number of quality games a system has. Also few things are better than plugging a NES or SNES into your big screen Sharp tv to play an old classic like Battletoads,Metroid and Double Dragon. If youre considering on purchasing an original NES be sure to get a Game Genie to go with it.Its a must have cause most standard NES games do not have save options and the genie turns a good system into an absolutely irresistible one.br Game Cube has great games.Super Mario Sunshine is gorgeous. Its really nothing like Super Mario 64 but it is its equal. Its really nothing like Super Mario 64 at all. Both are must haves though.Super Smash Bros Melee has great music, visuals and plus you can play against up to 3 CPUS in VS. mode.Pac Man World 2 is a cult classic its a little gem and best played in spring and summer.Resident Evil is confusing but if you have a guide sitting by you its awesome.Sonic is also aboard.I cant wait until the sequel to Sonic Adventure 2 comes out. What else can I say except video games are awesome?
Which one, Which one...? October 8, 2002 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
To tell you the truth there is hardly any difference between the Gambcube, PS2, and X-box. Graphics and such are practically the same. I mean there isn't a MASSIVE difference between the qaulity of the 3 systems. Gamecube, no doubt, is a state of the art system. Yet so is the PS2 and X-box. I beleive your desision on which console to buy should be based on what games are coming out (or are already out) for each system. All three consoles have amazing titles coming out. Gamecube with Resident Evil, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime. PS2 with GTA: Vice City, Gran Turisma, SOCOM: Navy Seals, Metal Gear Solid. X-box with Halo, Halo 2, and Ghost Recon. Don't buy a system just because its faster or looks cooler. Buy it for the games, for that is the main purpose for buying that system. Now look at the games for the systems, and decide what you are intrested in most, and buy it!
In the land of sprites Nintendo was king. October 7, 2002 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
In the land of polygons... Nintendo while not king, is still quite the honored royal, a proud blue blood if you may.pNintendo in its past attempt at taking the crown as console developer failed. Due to lack of support and an ever growing era of gamers(who grew up with the likes of Mario, Sonic, Toe Jam Earl, and were now in their mid teens).pWhile this generation isnt exactly shaping up in Nintendo's favor, it still seems better than the last.pThe console while not exactly the most supported, still is better than the N64. Its got some support, thanks in part to Sega, Capcom and Namco.pSquare has also joined in the bandwagon, releasing a new Final Fantasy game in Japan titled: Final Fantasy Crystal Saga. pThough Nintendo may have lost Rare to Microsoft, Nintendo can still live on its own without Rare(and considering they released so few games for Nintendo consoles, I dont see how its so big).pWhile the gamecube isnt exactly the biggest and most powerful, its still has quite a few games in its library to sustain it.pNintendo is synonymous with quality, and fun.pGames like Super Smash Brothers: Melee, Eternal Darkness, Mario Sunshine, Super Monkey Ball, and Rogue Leader all stand out as quality titles. Resident Evil's remake(titled REbirth in Japan) is also a game not to be missed.pYes it doesnt have the high poly counts, yes its not mature enough, but still its FUN, which is what games are SUPPOSED TO BE.pBuy a gamecube for the family, play games with friends, the console is worth it for many, have some fun.pTry it out, however if you're not into games like Mario or dont want to spend a day doing nothing but playing Super Smash Bros. with friends and want blood, violence, or games with story, get a PS2.
The system to buy September 21, 2002 13 out of 18 found this review helpful
Gamecube is definitely the best system to buy. It is the best money value of any console out there. Come on, we all grew up playing Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong. Gamecube is the fastest system out there with many load times unnoticable. Now, some Xbox fanboys might be saying that that's not true. Xbox does have a faster megahertz processer than any console out there, but that doesn't mean it's the fastest console. That speed is shared with the DVD drive it has, which then makes it slower than the Gamecube, but faster than the PS2. PS2 is dead last. Xbox does have the best GPU(graphics processing unit) but most developers don't make use of it. If you've ever played a game that was on both the Gamecube and Xbox,... the game would seem to have no visual difference. Has anyone seen Star Fox Adventures for the Gamecube? How does that compare to Bruce Lee on the Xbox? Alas, once again, the PS2 comes in dead last. br Many people will buy the Xbox with the DVD player as one of the major influences. Well, don't be fooled. Microsoft charges you an extra 30+ dollars to buy the remote. No remote, no DVD's will play. Anyone have a computer made by Microsoft? They own over 90% of the computer industry. Has it ever froze on you? My computer freezes all the time. Guess what? So does Xbox and it's DVD player. You're better off saving that extra 80 dollars and buy a Gamecube along with a DVD player by Philips. PS2 is also the same as Xbox but worse.(if you can even compromise how bad that would be.)br Now, the main reason you bought your console. The games. The PS2 obviously has the most games out, but many of the are shovelware. The good games they have are GTA 3, Final Fantasy,(which is now going to be on the Gamecube) Jack and Dexter, and Gran Turismo. Xbox has Halo and Dead or Alive 3. Gamecube has Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Super Smash Brother's Melee, Super Monkey Ball, Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, a ton of other Resident Evil's including RE4, Star Fox Adventures, Pikmin, Wario World, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Games (golf, tennis, party) Star Wars Rouge Squadron, Sonic Adventure 2, and a billion others that are going to come out soon. This is not including third party software. br Get the point. Buy a GameCube.(Xbox sales are slumping)
