5 out of 5 stars Buy it, Love it   October 31, 2007

The graphics, unique storyline, and fixed camera angles of this game create a unique experience that can't be found in any other games. It's satisfying to play because the "stages" (to draw a parallel with the Super Mario games of the past) are so short and there are hidden secrets to unlock everywhere in such a big spooky mansion. br /Once you beat it, you will want to go back and try to earn more money. It won't be a dull repeat of the first time because the ghosts are stronger and will take away more hearts than in your first time finishing the game. Money will be harder to earn as well. In the European version, the sides of the house are also reversed in order to make beating the game a second time more challenging. br /All in all an addictive game, if you're not too lazy to search for the rewarding and fun secrets locked in the mansion.

5 out of 5 stars One of Nintendos greatest games!!!   April 28, 2007

this is like a totally awsome game. and i dont care what those other reviews say. yes im a kid. but believe me. i know what a truely good video game is. iv'e certainly played alot of them. luigi's mansion isnt just about going around catching ghosts. in the words of nintendo power: "saying luigi's mansion is about just catching ghosts, is like saying super mario 64 is about a guy stuck in a castle" Luigi's mansion is full of puzzles and ghosts. The mansion has lots and lots of rooms. The game is short though. But when you beat the game, there is another mansion you can play. depending on how much money you got, the 2nd mansion is different. The graphics are quite stunning. things can look a little blockey, but what do you want for a 2001 game. The controls are difficult at first, but youll be a master at them in no time. You have to combine the flashlight with the poltergust 3000. You use the c-stick to aim, but its pretty easy. With your vacume and your flashlight, comes some upgrades that you will get later on. Fire, Water, and Ice. This game is an amazing demontration of the gamecubes graphical capability for that time. Another thing is the ghosts themselves. They are designed buitifully. br /br /br /Pro's:br /.fun gameplaybr /.great graphicsbr /.second mansionbr /.really neat hidden eggsbr /.great themebr /br /con's:br /.shortbr /.not that much replay valuebr /br /This game is just plain amazing. I would DEFINITELY recomend this to anyone. Mario/Luigi fan or not. I doubt you will be dissapointed. This definitly one of nintendos better games. (the best series' over all would be legend of zelda, metroid, and super mario.br /GET. THIS. GAME.br /br /br /

2 out of 5 stars Luigi: The lesser Super Brother.....   April 15, 2007

If you're considering this for yourself OR the kids, DON'T. Leave this one on the shelf at the store. Kids who rate this game highly probably haven't yet had the ultimate pleasure of a really stellar game.br /br / As a Gen X-er who began my gaming adventures with this franchise I had to finally give this game a chance. Hey, I want to get all the play I can out of my favorite little aging cube. I must say the game disappointed me greatly. The movement is slow, the controls awkward, and the gameplay lackluster. br /br /My first moment of distaste was the discovery that I couldn't jump to get coins in high places. Yes that's right.... a Mario brothers game without jumping!! Does half the brothers mean half the fun?! Yes. Instead of jumping, you retrieve elevated goodies with your handy vacuum, er weapon? For young kids, and I mean YOUNG, this may seem fun and more appropriate than fire or other gun-like weaponry, but then the problem becomes the controls. The age at which this gimmick would be appropriate may not be experienced or patient enough for the control scheme.br /br /I think this game has a great concept but lacks in execution. Had it been released on a portable, maybe old Luigi would've stepped out from behind Mario's shadow. Sadly it wasn't and Luigi therefore remains the lesser Super brother.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite . . . .   April 14, 2007

I love, love LOVE this game! Though it isn't very challenging, and is very short, it makes up for its shortcomings with great graphics and unusual gameplay. I love the spooky atmosphere, and the ghosts. I assure you that once you play you'll never get the theme song out of your head. The controls were a little difficult to master, but once you get it, its pretty easy. Its fun while it lasts, and a good way to waste a few hours.

I like it because you can play with your kid and he can play by himself if he is not scared of the gosths. It arrived very fast.
