2 out of 5 stars What should have been.   June 26, 2008

It was a great idea, however the track list is small and includes songs we've seen before. The least they could have done if including songs they're used before is to throw us some GH1 songs we haven't played in a while. Even the new songs aren't a huge draw for me, so if you like the songs on it your mileage may vary.br /The controller is a great idea but I find the buttons too close, so I have to squeeze my fingers over the buttons. Playing the game was fairly uncomfortable. I hardly have big hands, I would hate to see someone like that try this game.br /Even with these problems I had the game wasn't too challenging to pick up and play. While I'm hardly good- In GH3 I sometimes struggle on Expert, I had no problem beating songs on expert here. I suppose they pulled the difficulty down to make up for 4 buttons on a portable system, but I think it came down a bit too much.br /

5 out of 5 stars Simply amazed that they pulled it off   June 25, 2008
When I heard that Guitar Hero was coming to the DS I thought it would be a sad attempt to capitalize on the current craze for the console games. Wow, was I wrong. This is as fun a handheld game as I have ever played and I haved played quite a few. Even the add-on is comfortable once you find a good position. I lay the DS down on a tiled angle against a bag and can play for hours with no cramping. The amazing intuitiveness of the gameplay really makes the day. I am sure they will come out with additional song carts and I will buy then day one.

5 out of 5 stars great game   June 25, 2008
i got my guitar hero last night and have been playing it hours since. i love it.br /i have a little trouble hitting the blue button with my pinky finger but otherwise, it is great. it will take a little getting used to but once you have the feel for it, you will "rock out". i am a classic rock kind of girl, so the songs are a bit foreign to me. there were a few that i love and are on my ipod, but for the most part, i really didn't know them. i would recommend this game. it is challenging and fun. it certainly will provide you with hours and hours of playing.br /

4 out of 5 stars DS GH brings innovation to the strum action and battle system   June 25, 2008

I have better luck just putting my hand over the strap and way less hand cramping with this method. The song list is what it is with some choice cuts and some that we have had before and some we could do without, you be the judge of which ones could go.br /On Tour for the DS really shines in its battle/duel mode for every song, where you have 12 different tricks to pull on your opponent. One of which involves blowing out a fire through the mic, and another which has you signing a fans tshirt. The touch screen pick action is also a welcome addition as it really feels like picking at notes, more so than the traditional rhythm bar of GH guitars. Even the touch screen whammy bar controls great, as do the standard hammer ons and pull offs. The mic driven star power is very responsive even with the phats mic in an awkward place under the pick hand (just turn up the sensitivity). On Tour DS is a welcome addititon to the GH franchise one that adds more than a few new tunes and characters with its touch screen use and battle system. My only complaint is the rehashed songs but at least they are some of the better ones from III.br /br /br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

4 out of 5 stars Fun Times Ahead!   June 24, 2008

This game is great and I was really psyhced that it came out for the DS since I'm always playing mine.br /br /Overall it's great, easy to put together and use and the songs have a nice variety. My only real complaint is that I have a clear plastic protective case over my DS (I spend a lot of time on on the subway) and you have to physically remove the case to plug in the peripheral. I think because of this I will leave my Guitar Hero playing to home or on planes but other than that it's a welcomed addition to the DS!
