CrossworDS June 3, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I would like to say that this is 1 of the better word games I have for my DS,and I have, including Brain Age 12.I love the way the Word Search games work w/ the stylus and also how Anagrams as well as wordsearch puzzles are included in the game.br / First I begain doing Word Search games and I have been doing these for 34 years. You can picki a short one or a long one.I finished the short ones within a lil over an hour and each one was done in less then 2 and a half minutes.br / This unlocked all the Word Search titles for the Long and bigger wordsearches. You may get girls names,us states ,sports, colors.male names, countries etc,(just to name a few.br / I also like the crosssword version being that they are not TO HARD,I love this game, and really enjoy it alot!
Great for beginners like me! June 2, 2008 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Okay, I admit it; I typically am awful at crossword puzzles. BUT, I was interested in trying and listened to the reviewers who stated this was a good way to build up your talent, and it is! You can start as a beginner with small puzzles and work your way up to larger puzzles, great fun!br /br /There are 3 games:br /br /Crosswords: Again, you can start with a small (4x4) puzzle and work your way up to larger puzzles. The smaller puzzles are fairly easy and you begin to familiarize yourself with how it works and how to get these things figured out. There is Easy and Medium, and you have to unlock modes above those two after frequent play.br /br /Wordsearch: You are given a list of words and have to find them. Very classic, and very fun. Again, you're given easy or medium mode and have to unlock higher.br /br /Anagrams: For those who like text twist on Yahoo! games, you'll love this. You're given 6 letters and have to create as many words as you can. You have to have over 50% of them before you can move on. More challenging then you would think!br /br /Overall, a very fun game, and you can find yourself playing for just one puzzle or for hours on end.
Great and simple crossword puzzle fun May 28, 2008 The DS is a handheld that is simply made for crossword puzzles, and Crosswords DS doesn't disappoint. Featuring 1,000 puzzles (including word searches and anagrams) that are relatively simplistic but fun, Crosswords DS suffers from a bland presentation and sadly there is no multiplayer mode to speak of either. However, where Crosswords DS really shines is with the puzzles themselves, which are cleverly designed and enjoyable, and the game uses the DS' touch screen capabilities pretty well. Fans of crossword puzzles who found the superior New York Times Crosswords game from Majesco a little on the difficult side will surely get their money's worth here as well, and for fans of crossword puzzles in general, Crosswords DS is a more than worthwhile pick up.
Crossword DS May 18, 2008 I agree with the other reviewers that the handwriting recognition is great with this game. The main issue I'm having is that the Easy and Medium puzzles are ridiculously easy, and the game is set up so that one must complete them before advancing to the more difficult levels. I think this game would be an excellent choice for those reviewers that complained about the NY Times version being too difficult for them. New York Times Crosswordsbr /br /I found the Word Search section to be a bit challenging on the larger puzzles; because the puzzle is too big to fit on the screen, a lot of scrolling is necessary, so entire words may be split.br /br /As someone else mentioned, only one puzzle may be saved at a time, so if you are halfway finished with, say, an anagram, you can save your progress but cannot move to a new puzzle without either completing the saved anagram or deleting your progress. br /br /Has anyone played this game long enough to know when the next levels are "unlocked?"
Days, hours, months of fun! May 15, 2008 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
I have been having a GREAT time with this game - it has seemingly endless amounts of puzzles! The crossword puzzles recognize my handwriting a lot better than My Word Coach, solving is pretty easy and fun. So far I've only tried Easy and Medium settings, they're just barely hard enough to tickle your brain and very satisfying to try and beat your best puzzle-solving times. MUCH easier and less frustrating than the New York Times Crossword game. Word searches are a little harder, but fun too. Your eyes could go crazy staring at all those little letters after doing a few in a row but it's great to have the variety.br /br /The only reason I give it a 4-star instead of 5 is that the anagrams seem to want you to figure out EVERY SINGLE possibility before moving on. I'd prefer if you could try and beat your highest number of words each time, leave it a little more open-ended. Still, this isn't that big a deal - the challenge will just make me even more of a Boggle champion in the long run.br /br /I love the variety of having different sorts of puzzles available, and the fact that there are SO MANY to do makes this an amazingly great deal at only $20. I've been plugging away at it nearly every day for a week and have barely scratched the surface! If you like games like Brain Age and My Word Coach you'll really have fun with this.br /br /Now I just wish Nintendo would make a Sudoku game with this many puzzles for such a good price!
