Kind of a bummer December 28, 2008 I'm not sure what I was expecting from this game, but I was so excited to see "The Price is Right" that I just assumed it would be as much fun as the show I've loved for so long. Played it as soon as I got home and within 20 minutes of just click, click, wait, wait, wait, "you loose." I took it out and am not really wanting to play again. It's VERY slow after each stage (contestants row, game, spin off). I started off standing up all excited but found myself flopped down on the couch barely moving my arms to do the guessing. Blah, blah, blah. Maybe if there were several people playing it might be more fun, but for now I'm bummed I paid full price for this and for picking it to be my 2nd game w/my new system. Live and learn,I guess.
Comically awful December 26, 2008 Pros: not much. They did a decent job of translating the TPIR player "experience" to a game. The "3 strikes" deal is a pretty good idea. On the real show, if you dont make it out of contestant's row, your game is over. In the video game, you at least get a chance to play the different categories(pricing game, showcase showdown, showcase) no matter what. Party mode is also a plus.br /br /Cons: graphics (even for a Wii game) are bad, the player design and animations are horrid. I mentioned before that the *player* experience is decent, but the overall experience is not. There's no Drew Carey or Bob Barker, there is not host at all! Well, the announcer kinda acts as host. They could have used audio or video footage of Drew from the show, Drew did not *have* to do voicework for this game. Speaking of video, why are all of the product videos for the pricing game and contestant row so small? These games are on DVD, make it full screen already!br /br /Overall: This could have been a much better game. Like many 3rd party Wii titles, not a lot of effort was put into the game. This game is worth a rental or maybe a [...] purchase if you're HUGE fan of the show.
Good Game for Family Fun December 23, 2008 So I read many of the reviews and had no idea whether I was going to enjoy this game or not. I finally decided to purchase it and after all of that, it's a pretty good game.br /br /Yes, the game could have been made better. The small videos of the prizes you are bidding on are rather small, but I can still see them and the announcer tells you what they are so it wasn't that bad for me. There are other little things that could have been done better, but overall, I thought it was done well. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because even though it is a 4 player game, you all have to share one remote. I don't quite understand that.br /br /But... the game was fun. I played it with my wife and my two boys, eight and five (my five year old spun the wheel for me). We all had a fun time and have played it at least five times in the first 24 hours. My 8 year old woke up this morning and was ready to play again. If I didn't have to go to work early, I probably would have played again as well.br /br /So all in all, it was a good game and one that will probably be fun for our whole family. It could have been done better, but I could say that about plenty of other games too.
YOU'RE THE NEXT CONTESTANT!!! December 7, 2008 I LOVE THE TV SHOW AND THIS VIDEO GAME HAS BROUGHT IT TO LIFE FOR ME! IT IS VERY EXCITING AND THERE ARE UNEXPECTED SURPRISES. MY FAMILY PLAYS TOO AND WE'VE HAD LOTS OF LAUGHS!!! I'D RIGHT MORE BY I'M OFF TO MONTE CARLO - well my virtual vacation won on The Price Is Right!!!
not what I expected - almost too real...real boring December 4, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I first put this game in I was really excited to play...and then I got started on contestant row and immediately had flashbacks of Family Feud for the old nintendo. Are the graphics as bad as Family Feud? Almost. Is it as fun to play as Family Feud? No. The main problem being (oddly enough) that the game is too much like the real game show. You start at contestants row (obviously), then you go onto a game, then you spin the wheel, and if you win then it's onto showcase showdown. And that's it...over...and over again. Then to annoy me more, you have to play all the games in the game before they are unlocked and you can just play Blinko or whatever instead of going through all the BS. And the other annoyance I have with this game (and the actual TV game show) is the pricing of the products. Where in the US do they base these prices? I apparently am getting screwed here in Wisconsin every time I go grocery shopping, but also making out like a bandit when I buy a TV. Anyway, I was just expecting more. I'm sure real big Price is Right fans would be ticked if this game weren't exactly like the show but if you are not a huge fan you will most likely find this game a little slow and redundant. I would have loved to have seen this game a little more amped up, with at least an option to veer from the norm and have things a little more fast paced and interesting.
