Guitar Hero January 1, 2009 I got this game for my daughter for Christmas. She says that the easy level is very hard, but I think she has been getting better at it. She spends hours playing the game.
An amazing attempt at making Guitar Hero portable, but far from perfect January 1, 2009 This game is very good considering what it is trying to achieve. br /br /Is it as good as the console verions of Guitar Hero? No. Is it just about as good as it could be on the DS? Yes.br /br /The main complaints that people have with this game are the lack of the fifth strut that the console games have and the overly compressed sound quality of the songs. In response to these complaints, a fifth strut on the DS version would have made the game very difficult (it already gets very hard with four struts) and would have been hard to fit on the guitar grip. As for the sound quality, you can't expect much from two tiny speakers and a game cart that holds a tiny amount of data (compared to its competitors). I used a plug to allow me to plug my DS into my 500 watt home stereo system and the songs get plenty loud enough, but they do sound like overly compressed MP3's. Overall the sound quality is far from great but it is certainly good enough for a portable game. br /br /I enjoyed the game in every way from gameplay to graphics. The only real complaints that I could think of are some of the song choices are a bit on the pop side and the developers should have been able to cram another 5 or 10 songs into the game for a longer lasting experience (especially with how compressed the songs are).br /br /Overall I say get it.
Surprising December 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 11 yr old son - it was a Gold Box special and I thought what the heck. When it arrived I was underwhelmed by the package but duly wrapped it up and put it under the tree. Come Christmas this was the biggest hit with everyone having a go, including my 19 year old daughter who has Guitar Hero for XBOX360. She was very impressed having spent many many hours on the XBOX360. Good choice of songs, good strumming/pick action.
Can't even keep GH unit in DS December 28, 2008 First off holding this thing is awkward and it's hard for a person with a smaller hand to get their pinky to reach/line up with the last key. Also, the GH unit that snaps in is not a tight fit and can pop out very easily. Each time it does the game has to reload. The game would be fun if things worked correctly, but this makes it frustrating to say the least. I am sorry I bought this and will probably return it.
Awesome, Guitar Hero anywhere!! December 27, 2008 This game is pretty sweet. You can play it where ever you want and the music that it has is great. Wrist does start hurting though after a few songs, other than that it is great.
