Product Description The second Metroid game, developed from the ground-up for Nintendo's black white handheld, takes place some time after the NES original. Samus flies to the home planet of the Metroids, SR-388, an unstable place racked by earthquakes and torrents of lava. Many powerful breeds of Metroid thrive here and in the cavers below the surface. Samus roots them all out, eventually destroying the Metroid Queen. A baby Metroid hatches immediately after the battle and imprints upon Samus. Thinking Samus is her mother, it helps her escape. Samus then turns the hatchling over to the Galactic Federation, thinking that researching it might prove fruitful. Gameplay itself is classic sidescrolling, shooting, and puzzle solving, with plenty of alien encounters.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST EVER! February 20, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I really enjoy this game from the beginning to end.. well when I started playing it.. it sure was hard.. but after I finish the game a few times I was able to set a record.. My record in finishing this game was 4 hours and some.. but I really like it.. I still love.. and own it. I like the several types of guns, and the armor she gets.. as you play you are able to get extra life.. but some of them are really hided. if you want some truly hours of fun.. get this game.. actually it had higher price from now when I got it.
Ah, nastalgia. January 10, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've played this game int eh past and it was fun to revisit it, even if it was short as compared to most fo the others one to be had. I like the game simply for its replayability and seeking of missing parts, if any.
this game stinks October 5, 2004 0 out of 50 found this review helpful
this game has bad graphics. a cave man is probably more younger than this game. don't get it
They should remake this next April 19, 2004 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
After playing Metroid, Super MEtroid, MEtroid PRime, Fusion, and Zero I realized that the only one I had not played/beaten yet was the Gameboy version of Metroid, MEtroid 2. SO I went on one of my legendary hunts for this and low and behold I found it. A few hours Later I had beaten it and left me with some interesting thoughts.pThe Story here is that Samus Arron has defeated Mother Brain and her space pirates on Planet Zebes, her next assignment is the exterminate the Metroids. So it is from here that the game begins. You must eliminate 37 or so Metroids scattered throughout the caverns of the Planet, but the metroids are not like the ones from before, as these particular breed have mutated to a more evolved state. pThis game is interesting in that it is still classic Metroid fun, but with a few complaints. The First one is that the game is real short. The nesxt is when it comes to gathering powerups those too happen fast. Within a fifteen minute time span (all in one to two areas) I went from the Ice Beam to the Wave to Spazer to Plasma beam. That was in a fifteen minute slot. The final is that outside of the Final Boss, there are no other major bosses. Unlike the first in which you had to Face Ridley and Kraid first in order to proceed, this one just throws at you one of the four evolved forms of the metroids to deal with. pI am not saying that this is a bad game but if you have become hooked to say Fusion or Zero than this game is a step down for you (and if you only played Prime well avoid all together). However if you are a die hard collector or are interested in the full story than this game is a must have in the legacy. Just be warned it's short and sweet but with a hard edge (difficulty).
Good game to add to your collection March 17, 2004 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Now this is a fun game. I tell you what. This is a fun game. I got mine off ebay (sorry amazon but the prices...) anywho the game is really cool. i think theres like 39 metroids you have to kill but the deal is yoru go though the disturbed planet fothe metroid sr388 and have to kill them all. and after you kill a certain amount theres this rumble and the lava in a big shaft room goes down to the next floor and this goes on for like 4 times. When you then get close to the "lordess" metroid -so fine- you have to fight i think 9 new metroids! which is a add on the prevoious 39 so technically theres 48 (49 if you include the queen) anyways then you anilate the lordess and for some reason on my game theres this weird red line on the wall but whatever it goes donw after teh battle and for some ohter reason theres a little excape hole under the lordess. so i guess you can wimp out and excape kinda ruins the point of a boss if you can jsut "escape"?! but oh well after you defeat IT. then a baby metroid hatches (jimminy crickets where do all these things come from!!!! fun never ends with metroid 2 ;) but then you escape the terrifing planet and go to your ship. THE END review DARN GOOD GAME
