Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
With the PLAYSTATION 3 memory card adaptor, game save information from PlayStation and PlayStation 2 Memory Cards can now be transferred onto the PLAYSTATION 3 hard-disk drive. This allows players to access all of their old games without starting over, keep earned scores and items, and continue where they left off on their PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games.

5 out of 5 stars Back and forth   January 4, 2009
This product does what it says it does...moves save data back and forth from the PS3 hard drive to the PS2/PS1 memory card adaptors. Useful if you still have and use a PS2 in another room, or (like I do) keep it next to the PS3 for games that the PS3 runs into an issue with (I'm looking at you, Knights of the Round in FF7).br /br /Overall, you could probably get this used and not run into an issue, or just get one among two or three people, as it isn't likely to be used often.

5 out of 5 stars Perfection, one-time use   December 21, 2008
An ideal PS3 would have everything the 60GB model had AND, among other things, a slot that accepted PS2 memory cards but... there is no such thing as an ideal PS3 :)br /br /If you have an old-style, PS2-compatible PS3, you can use this adapter exactly once. It will transfer information from your physical PS2 memory card into a virtual 'card' on your PS3 disk. Once you're done, you can sell it or give it away to a friend with similar needs because there's hardly any other use for it. It's perfect in what it does.br /br /It may be worth noting that the virtual PS2 cards were preserved when I upgraded the disk on my 60GB PS3. I used the 'system backup' option and, after I restored everything back on the new disk, the 'card' was there, to my kids' joy.

5 out of 5 stars NO need to start all over with my favorite PS2 games!   December 17, 2008
I had been thinking abotu getting this[...].I received it and it doesn't include a usb cable, using the existing cable that came with my system to charge the controller.br /br / It performs flawlessly and is simple to use, appearing in the same location in the XMB as the virtual memory cards. First save I loaded was Gran turismo 3 and 4 on PS2. then Castlevania SOTN and chronicles on PSone. Then R-type delta. Then my MGS2 saves. all tranferred quickly and perfectly.br /br / You can even transfer saves created on your PS3 to the appropriate memory card for use on a PS1 or PS2.

5 out of 5 stars only Sony brand cards will work is a myth!   December 7, 2008
This is in response to the reviewer who says this will only work for Sony brand memory cards (for PS1 only). Using the 40gig PS3 model I have copied data from Performance, Nuby, and Interact brand cards. Every single one I've used has copied successfully (8 third party cards total). I've loaded a few PS1 game saves on the console and they load fine. I also preserve my PS1 cards in normal humidity and temperature that are about 8 years old on average. The reviewer didn't take good care of his unreadable cards perhaps? Also, I was able to copy 2 Nyko PS2 cards as well. Since my PS3 isn't backwards compatible with the PS2 library, I can't test the save data.

5 out of 5 stars Great single serving product   November 20, 2008

Wow this thing works amazing, I only used it once and I will never use it again, there is nothing bad to say about it. I'm going to pass it around to all my friends with PS2s that have backwards compatable PS3s and maybe even return it to the store when I'm done. I didn't get it from Amazon and I wouldn't, cuz really it's easier to take it back to the mall...br /br /Ask a friend and borrow theres, really don't buy this Great single serving product...yes it works perfect for about 1 min, thats the time it takes to unpackage it, run and get your old 8mg card plug it in and copy your saves, no joke 1 full minute, I timed it.............o_Obr /br /It's a very well made product.br /br /
