Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
The GameCube Broadband Adapter allows for high-speed connection through a DSL or cable modem and is purely designed for online gaming--it doesn't support regular Internet access or Web browsing. The adapter is easily installed, simply snapping into serial port 1 on the underside of the console. The Broadband Adapter can also theoretically be used for linking two or more GameCube systems together, allowing for network gaming without the need for online access. p To use the Broadband Adapter you'll need a 10 megabit (10Base-T) or 100 megabit (100Base-TX) network cable, a broadband connection device such as a cable modem or DSL adapter with an available Ethernet port, and a valid account with a Broadband Internet Service Provider. Please be aware that some service providers, eg. AOL, do not allow outside software to access their services without the use of a special login tool. Please contact your service provider if you're not sure whether or not they allow this.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money...   May 27, 2005

Listen fanboys, there are... what... 5 games that support the BBA adaptor... only one of which is internet based? Don't waste your money... the only reason you'd want to buy this is to upload homebrew with the Fantasy Star exploit... but even then... this adaptor is only 10mbit so it would take a large amount of time to upload any sort large applications... play on PS2 online or Xbox Connect...

The BBA is incredible!!! I don't have PSO but I've used Mario Kart with Warp Pipe (http://www.warppipe.com) and it rocks the house!! I just snap in the adapter, use a crossover cable to connect it to my wireless computer, then go!! I admit PS2 Network Adapter is easier to set up, simply connect it to a router and go, but Warp Pipe and the BBA have the skills to math that!! Okay, so it can't surf the internet, but it's a pure GAMES CONSOLE (which is also why it's faster than the PS2 by 100MHz) You MUST buy this if you have a gamecube!!

5 out of 5 stars Some of You are Crazy   April 1, 2004
The Broadband Adapter for the Nintendo Gamecube is what we've all been waiting for. XBox and PS2 are both way ahead of Gamecube in the technology race, so this adapter that adds an ethernet port to the side of your 'Cube is a must-have. The adapter fits nicely into Seriel Port 1 on your Gamecube console. Now, regarding my title... pI've seen quite a few reviews stating that this adapter does not work with Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and that it said so in the instuction pamphlet. Mark my words: this is a complete lie! Right on the back of the Mario Kart box is the logo stating that it's Broadband Compatible. I don't know why those reviewers chose to say that nonsense. Using Warp Pipe (www.warppipe.com), this game works almost flawlessly with the adapter. pSome other games that you can use online and with Warp Pipe are: br1080: Avalanche brKirby: Air RidebrPhantasy Star Online: Episodes III brPhantasy Star Online: Episode III pIf you have a home network and a computer, this is an excellent upgrade for your Gamecube. Trust me.

1 out of 5 stars Wait, Nintendo doesn't have online play? or does it?   February 24, 2004

Corny title. But I will keep this short and sweet, I will buy the GCBA a.s.a I get any LAN possable games. Oh, and the 1 star is only b/c I haven't reviewed it yet. But as many peeps know Warppipe is software used to connect LAN games only with your IP and router. I can even say this, If you use a wireless router (like me), you can't play it like that. You need to use the main router in your house. Oh, and those who say that WP is crap, this is only the bata version and not the offical version, ok. Oh yeah, there is another online game comming out. You can look it up on walmart or here.

5 out of 5 stars It can be used with other games!   February 15, 2004
