The game's main campaign, known as Stepping Mode, exists in an area known as "Rhythm Island", can be played in single player or local two-player simultaneous and challenges players to explore a gameworld that grows with every literal step taken through it. These steps are patterned after the rhythm of the songs of the in-game soundtrack, which are tapped/stepped out using the game controllers supported. These include the Wii Remote/Nunchuk, the Wii Balance Board and the iDDR/i controller for Wii. Tracks are of various speed and tempo, which the player can alter through difficulty settings. The game features a moving indicator line, known as the "Stepping Guide" that helps players keep in tune with the beat, and the displaying of lyrics, which for some can be helpful in keeping in time, can also be suspended as the player chooses. As players walk in synch they are rewarded with in-game chips, depending on their level of accuracy. These chips can in turn be used to unlock "Event Capsules", which hold a variety of elements ranging from new songs, new paths through the gameworld and physical environmental features like zodiac constellations and rainbows. The unlocking/purchasing of events can happen as the user pauses the action to do so, or can be cued to happen as the required chips are collected. Additional features include: character customization and Mii support, your choice of a male or female AI companion, in-game song set lists, map functionality and varied camera controls for improved Event Capsule searching. p/ bMini-Games/bbr/ Along with moving through the main campaign found within the iWalk It Out!/i Stepping Mode, players also have the option to take a break and play a range of entertaining mini-games, some of which involve walking and some not. These include: oliWhack-A-Slack!/ibr/ A take off on the iconic game iWhack-A-Mole/i, here players try to hit as many of the "Slackie" creatures as possible with an in-game mallet, within the parameters chosen for the game. Multiple difficulty settings are available and play is possible during a single run-through of an unlocked song or set list, or by letting the song(s) loop and play as long as you like. /ol oliPsycolo/ibr/ iPsycolo/i is a puzzle game in which you use your ability to walk to the beat to move a cube around a gameboard collecting hearts and avoiding Slackies, all while maintaining your on-screen health through accuracy in play. The game features 3 ways to move your cube. /ol oliSmash ‘n Run!/ibr/ Another nod to iWhack-A-Mole/i, iSmash ‘n Run!/i again has players looking to drop the hammer on Slackies. The difference here is that players need the right size hammer, if not Slackies can fight back and drain your life. This game also incorporates the Wii Remote/Nunchuk controller configuration with your choice of iDDR/i mat or Wii Balance Board controllers. /ol p/ bGame Features/b ul libUniquely Motivational Gameplay/b - Stay active and explore an in-game world where the more you move, the richer your gameworld becomes. Seniors LOVE it too September 6, 2010 Laura J. Fender (Virginia) I am 62 and cannot get enough of this game! I have only had it for 1 week, but I love it. I think it is because I am very computer literate, like to multi-task and I love to dance. Yes, I do a DANCE/WALK. Also, I like most all of the songs and I like learning the words as I play. I have to make myself STOP. I usually do 3-4 miles a day. Looking for WIO2!
A Fun Way to Get a Low Impact Workout! September 4, 2010 C. Haakmeester (Alpharetta) I am so excited to have gotten this game as it got some great reviews and was thrilled to have a way to walk when the weather didn't premit, or if I wanted to walk late at night, etc. This is a fun way to get that workout it but so fun you forget you are exercising!

br /I am not understanding why some people said it was so difficult to get into the beat. I did not have that difficulty at all. You really just have to stay with the beat of the music, pretty similar when you walk in place in an aerobics class. If you can do that, you can do this game. The music is fun and the game gives you tasks to do to give a challenge while walking. I just put it in to try it out for a minute and wound up doing it for 20 minutes without realizing it.

br /For me, I found the best option was to use the remote and nunchunk. It says to put it in your pocket, but I just use the leg band that I got with the wii active game. It stays secure and this way I can walk, jog or run at my leisure. I can also where sneakers, which you can't wear on the wii fit. If you don't have that, I know you can buy them for not much money at all and it really does work very well with this game.

br /Anyway, I look forward to using this game in my routine. I will write more at a later time as I use it to speak of my results.
Fun exercise without knowing it September 4, 2010 Daisy, Daisy Adair This game is fantastic! We have it for the wii and play it with the balance board. It takes a bit of practice but after you get the "rhythm" and the hang of it, you will love it. I walked a mile the first time I tried it and now I regularly walk a couple of miles each week. Along with it's overall motivation with building the island up, it gives you lots of positive feedback and encouragement. You can exercise tons while having fun.
Keeps me motivated to walk longer than I've ever wanted to walk before August 26, 2010 C. Paulton (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are loads of people who have done the whole island 4 or 5 times... I'm still on my first trip. That being said, I consistently log 3-4 miles a day and have to force myself to stop and participate in real life. Bring on Walk It Out 2!!! There are so many possibilities for this concept - hopefully this is a new wave in exercise games.
excellent August 21, 2010 C. Gwinn (SC United States) I have been using this game since February along with several other Wii games. This is by far my favorite. I have started playing it on a mini trampoline to increase the workout intensity. The first game I completed by walking 218 miles. I am now about done with a second game. I wish a WIO 2 would come out as this is a wonderful stress reliever, fun to play and good exercise. Highly recommend it.
