Players will be able to customize the look of their cheerleader and squad including body, facial features, hair and outfits.p/ bShow the Squad What you Are Made Of/bbr/ The backstory that plays out in iAll Star Cheer/i revolves around player's attempts to make the 'Fox Squad' cheer roster. Although a top squad, they have suffered a tough setback when one of their top captains has been sidelined by injury. The show must go on though. Players goal in singleplayer modes is first to make the squad, later progressing up its ranks and finally putting what you've learned to good use as a choreographer.p/ bKey Game Features/b: ul li1-4 player support./li liUse the Wii remote and nun-chuck to perform dozens of real-world cheer/dance moves./li liFull body cheer experience using the Wii Balance Board (optional)./li liCompete and cooperate in squad and one-on-one cheer-offs./li liCustomize the look of your team including facial features, hair, style color, make-up and outfits./li liLearn new moves and choreograph your own cheer routines to music./li liGrow your all-star squad to be the best and lead them to the championship as Cheer Captain./li /ul bVaried Gameplay/bbr/ Gameplay within iAll Star Cheer Squad/i consists of players mimicking the stream of on-screen prompts, representing individual moves within a cheer routine, and accumulating points according to their accuracy. Action is registered through the use of various controllers. Ideally the game simulates a the range of body motion--both upper and lower--that a cheerleader utilizes. With this in mind, to take advantage of the game's full potential players should use both the combination of a Wii Remote with attached Nunchuck controller for upper body movement, and a Wii Balance Board for lower body movement. But this configuration is not mandatory for play. A Wii Remote with Nunchuck will suffice. Play options consist of: p/ uSingleplayer/u - Singleplayer action in iAll Star Cheer Squad/i comes in two varieties: Quick play and Career Mode. Career Mode on the other hand contains the lion's share of the singleplayer experience as well as the storyline of the game. As players begin this mode they choose the gender and basic customization options of their character like initial attire, facial features, etc. From there they are introduced to the current members of Fox Squad. Considered as an unproven rookie the players must try out and make the squad to gain respect and a spot on the team. If successful more advanced routines and moves as well as unique custom items will be unlocked, which will earn you credibility and provide the opportunity to move up in the hierarchy of the squad, eventually all the way to captain. Quickplay is a standard tutorial mode where players can practice basic and not so basic moves that will come in handy regardless of the player's experience and comfort level with the Wii Remote, Nunchuck and the Wii Balance Board. p/ uMultiplayer/u - iAll Star Cheer Squad/i supports 2-4 players either cooperative or competitive multiplayer. Team up and work together as a unit and the goal is to get the highest overall routine score as a squad by following the on-screen prompts as you face down a bevy of AI supplied competition. As squads progress through the mode, moves routines and their synchronization with music become more and more difficult, complex and frantic. Players who instead choose to go the route of competitive multiplayer face off against friends in a versus mode where not only do they need to follow the in-game prompts, to hope to win in a tight battle they must shoot for perfect execution of moves. String together three perfect moves and your team receives a 'call out." These can be used to add points to your score, trip up the opposing cheer line when their turn comes, protect your own line in this case. Whichever team has the highest score at the end of the game wins. p/ Any way you choose to play it iAll Star Cheer Squad/i is an aspirational game that captures the fun and action of the real life Cheer world. Immerse yourself in the creativity, customization, style and teamwork iAll Star Cheer Squad/i. And don't forget to Bring it on! p/

3 out of 5 stars Game no fun without Wii Fit Balance Board   January 8, 2009
I bought this game for my daughter along with the pom poms and she is VERY disappointed. In the description I read for this game it said it COULD be used with the Wii balance board but not required. Well it isn't required necessarily but you can't do any of the jumps without it...only arm movements and what fun is that?! Now I have to track down a balance board which is in high demand right now and my daugher can't play this game until I track down the balance board and spend $90 more dollars! GHEEZ! They shouldn't sell this game without the balance board included or at least offer it as a package deal like they did the Wii Mario Cart game so you can save a few bucks on the two. I wouldn't buy this game again or recommend it to anyone. My daughter was not impressed!

3 out of 5 stars Not as fun as it could have been, but not bad   December 19, 2008

As previously mentioned in other reviews and on comment threads, this game is a little tedious to use with the balance board since it has to calibrate before every practice and tournament. However, I started using that time to stretch and work on real jumps behind the board. Some of the other complaints before is that it is like directing traffic. I felt that way in the easiest mode...put it on expert and you will be challenged! I haven't tried choreographing my own routine yet, but I'm having a pretty good time in the career mode. I highly recommend getting a wireless nunchuk for this game. Overall, this game could have been better, but it is still fun and a lot better than some of the other third-party sports games.

5 out of 5 stars It's as much fun to watch as it is to play   December 6, 2008

I really liked the realistic cheer moves. The music is superior and really rocks. The graphics are great. I had fun designing my cheerleader. I made the squad at tryouts - but still haven't gotten an "A". I like that there's more to the game than just multiple levels. We don't have a balance board yet - but will absolutely have to get one to be able to do even more on All Star Cheer. A great game - I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Game!!   December 4, 2008

Hmm, where to start...br /br /First of all, I'm really surprised at the negative revues this game's been getting. I bought it for my niece for her birthday. Not only did she and all of her friends play it late into the night (sleepover party), but her older brother and his friend also got involved. I'll admit, I was glued to it as well. The game is fast-paced, upbeat and easy to get into. The progressive speed with which the arrow moves appear on screen keep the player on his/her toes. I have to say, we were engaged in the game from the minute she opened it until well past the pizza and birthday cake ran out.br /br /Secondly, customizing the characters is a trip in and of itself. Unlike We Cheer, the avatars look like real humans and not creepy bobble heads. There are also male avatars, so, you know, boys can get their cheer on too without feeling weird.br /br /Oh, and they also went crazy for the Jonas Brothers song that's featured in the game...
